Overview

Are you a musician who lives, works or plays in Greater Manchester? Or are involved with the music industry in some way? If so, we want to hear from you.

In June 2018, the Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham launched a major review to look at existing provisions for musicians, music businesses and audiences across Greater Manchester.

The review will provide a greater understanding of the issues currently faced in the industry, which will shape recommendations to enhance Greater Manchester’s status as a music-city region.

Why your views matter

We genuinely want to hear from people who are involved with the music scene in Greater Manchester.
We want you to help the Mayor of Greater Manchester and the Combined Authority shape the future of the city-region's music culture, specifically looking at the following;

  • What we need to do to develop music policy and infrastructure
  • What support is needed for artists and bands
  • How can we maximise the city-region’s music heritage
  • What is needed to build on the night-time economy and music tourism
  • How can we attract and develop new festivals and events

What happens next

The feedback that has been collected from people during this consultation will be used in the Greater Manchester Music Review during the latter part of 2018.

Results will be published, along with the feedback from other engagement activity later on in the year, so that people can see where their feedback impacts upon the music scene in Greater Manchester.
