GM Tech Fund - Does your school or college need support?

Closes 31 Dec 2021

Opened 13 Jan 2021

Overview

In 2020, Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) in partnership with Virgin Media Business launched Phase 1 of the Greater Manchester Technology Fund; investing £150,000 in 567 kit bundles for disadvantaged and digitally excluded pupils and working with headteachers to identify those most in need. As beneficial as this has been to those young people and their families, we must do more to address the deep digital divide and the impact on the life chances of our most vulnerable young people.

In response to the immediate closure of schools in England on the 5th January, The Mayor of Greater Manchester has launched Phase 2 of the Greater Manchester Technology Fund to support disadvantaged and digitally excluded pupils to continue their education from home.

We are asking those schools and colleges in Greater Manchester with pupils at risk of digital exclusion, to complete this short form to identify the technology needs for your students.

Please be advised that the Greater Manchester Technology Fund is an emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic and not a long-term support fund. We may not be able to support all the requests received from schools, so please ensure you are identifying those students most in need of the support.
